Blender-centric workflow

As a Designer, Blender has become an integral part of my workflow. Throughout the years, I've consolidated a robust Concept modeling workflow, compatible with the design and engineering industry.

SUB-D FOR AUTOMOTIVE SURFACING

Subdivision workflows work well for car modeling because they’re designed to handle smooth, complex surfaces. You can also export Blender’s SubD meshes directly into Alias while keeping them as SubD models.

non-SUB-D FOR COMPONENT LEVEL MODELING

For general components and products, straightforward polygon modeling with non-destructive modifiers is usually the better choice. It keeps the model flexible, making details like chamfers, fillets, cutouts, or crowns easy to adjust at any stage.

parenting and assemblies

Parenting objects and adding drivers or constraints lets you build simple assemblies and quickly test how parts interact.

Using a rich modifier stack or geometry nodes is an efficient way to generate complex patterns like front grills and similar details.

Blender isn’t Class-A, but with tools like Shrinkwrap and Geometry Nodes you can still get very clean, prototype-ready surfaces without needing a finished Class-A Alias model.

With good file optimization, dynamic drivers, and a few helpful addons, Blender can act as a live product configurator using either of its render engines.
